Courchevel is not one village but a valley of them, named after their altitude. All share the same lifts, the same superb grooming and direct access to the rest of the 3 Vallees, so the skiing is excellent wherever you stay. What changes is the price, the scene and how far you are from the Saulire, the top of the sector at 2,738 m.
For us it is the best part of the 3 Vallees, if you can afford it: the pistes are beautifully kept, the terrain covers every level, and the food is among the best in the Alps. Courchevel 1850 is where the money and the glamour are. 1650 and 1550 give you nearly the same skiing for less. Le Praz and La Tania are the budget, low-altitude options, best in midwinter.
