About Ski Muse
Independent ski resort reviews from skiers who ski every piste and compare resorts side by side.
Who we are
Ski Muse is written by the Ski Muse team. Our lead tester is a lifelong, semi-professional skier who has skied about 100 resorts, mostly in the Alps, and knows the biggest systems inside out: the 3 Vallees, the Dolomites and Sella Ronda, the 4 Vallees, the Portes du Soleil, Paradiski and Megeve.
On a trip we try to ski every piste in the resort, not just the famous ones. That's what lets us compare resorts fairly: where the snow lasts, which links close first, where the crowds are, and which village is really the best base.
How we score
Each resort and village gets a score out of 5 in half stars on eight criteria: terrain, snow, lifts, village, mountain food, après, families and value. Terrain counts for 30% of the overall score; the "Skiing only" and "Families" views on each page reweight the same scores for different trips.
Big, famous ski areas tend to score between 4 and 5. That's deliberate: the differences that matter at the top are in the details, which is what the text and the sub-scores are for.
Reviews and guides
A page with scores is a full review based on our own skiing. A page marked "Guide" covers a resort we haven't reviewed in full yet: the facts are researched and checked, and it gets scores after our next visit. Each guide says plainly whether and when we skied there.
Independence
No resort, hotel or tourist office pays for a review or a score. If that ever changes for a listing, it will be clearly labelled.
